Thanksgiving Holiday Table Decorating Questions Answered!

  1. What will your VEGAN Thanksgiving look like this year?

In other words, what foods/drinks will you be feasting on this holiday? :) Please no comments from meat eaters saying "REAL turkey, mmmm mmmm" or anything obnoxious like that. I'm trying to get ideas for my OWN vegan Thanksgiving and hear what others like me are having.

  2. Does the cold winter months affect how you decorate? Do you change your decor to keep you place warmer? ?

What changes if any do you make?

  3. How should i tell my children santa isn't real?

i have been thinking about Christmas. Did you all do the whole santa thing? i feel horrible taking it away from the kids and telling them there is no santa when its something that gets them excited....I wanted to focus mostly on Jesus and not show my "excitement" for santa that hopefully they would be more into what is really important which is the birth of Jesus. Am i wrong to let the kids think there is a santa? I know when parents make decisions like this, their family is so against it and tries to mae them feel bad. I Have a bad feeling the same will happen if i made this decision and would feel like a horrible mom. Its not like we are decorating our house with santa or anything either. What do you see in this? What is your suggestion and advice? I was brought up thinking santa was real and my mom focused so much on santa and black friday presents that i wasn't focused on the true meaning which is Jesus. I don't want to lie to my children ages 3 and 6, but at the same time how do i tell them? i tried even explaining to my mother about it so she would know where we stand and not to mention santa to the kids. All she did was tell me it would be the worst thing i could do is to take that away because its magical and something fun for them. She said it would be a mistake and would traumatize them. We just moved away from family about 4 months ago too to another state so she thinks they are already going through a lot with those adjustments and now telling them this would ruin them. But they are completely satisfied here and love it! I don't know, God tells us not to lie but i am blatantly lying to my children. Can another fellow christian please give me some advice on how to approach this maybe out of experience?

  4. I need help with decorating an orange room?

I have an overwhelming orange dining room...bright orange. I love the color but I have nothing on the walls and I have very large, antique white colored furniture (only a table and chairs and a buffet...it's not a huge room). My question is, should I put wall hangings, shelves, pictures that are earth tones or contrast colors like blues, greens, etc? Or can I use both? I have a lot of empty wall space and it looks very awkward.

  5. Feeling a little down this holiday season what can i do to make myself feel better? 10 BA?

Im 21 & feeling a bit depressed & sad about this holiday season. :(( Last year I had a job at a bank making good $$. Around this time last year I was doing all my holiday shopping & creating my own holiday traditions. I cooked my own thanksgiving dish to take to the family dinner for the first time. I decorated my home & tables for the holiday. My neices & younger siblings loved to go to my home. They would get excited cause when they came over I always tried to have fun holiday crafts that they could do & I would display them around my house they LOVED IT ! :)) Last X-mas I got to buy everyone X-mas gift they wanted, I enjoyed wraping gifts, decorated my yard and put lights on my house:)). I enjoyed having my family over making them delicious treats like home made cookies, brownies, hot coco. I even bought my own first X-mas tree. :((( Unfortanitlly, the bank I was working for was not doing so well and had to lay people off. Since me & 3 other girls were the newest employees they laid us off I had to take out a couple of loans to keep my utilitys running & pay rent till i found a new job. I wasnt so lucky I ended up having to move out. I now am in debt & living with my grandmother. Since then Ive been attending college and looking for a part time job so I can pay off debt & save to get my own place. But seeing all these holiday ads, lights going up on houses, ect. Im becoming very sad :(( cause I cant do those things anymore. its getting to where I dont want to celebrate this year :(((

  7. Thanksgiving -- a day to thank God. What do you do?

Thanksgiving isn't just about the family coming over and the turkey, but we need to remember to thank God that day for His provisions and protection in our life -- giving thanks. Going to church that day is a good way to celebrate it. What do you do?

  8. aunts ex husband and coming to family events?

He thinks because his 3 year old daughter comes to family dinners, Easter, Thanksgiving, he can come too. His ex wife sees nothing wrong with this. The remainder of us really dislike him, he is a idiot. He makes me uncomfortable in my own home. while he has not cause fights or the such, I don't want him here but If I say he cant come, my aunt and child might not come either. He thinks he has the right to go wherever his daughter is. I am having Easter at my house this year, I do not want him there! What can we do?
