How can I make indoor daytime reception have romantic night feeling in a natural lighted venue?

The community hall where I'm having wedding reception is real spacious and open and has glass walls, windows, and doors covering both ends of hall. Although the reception will go into the night it will start hours before the sun goes down. With all of the sunlight coming in I was wondering if anyone had ideas on how I can decorate it to where it will be dark and elegant with only candlelit tables and spotlights providing light. The venue only allows freestanding decorations.

Details:

  1. OMG u serious
  2. That sounds kind of weird to me. Why dont you let the sun shine through? Once the sun sets, you can have the staff light some candles or turn on some fairy lights to change the mood.
  3. Sorry, but there is no way to make the room dark unless you try to cover all the glass. Why would you want to do that? Wow...sounds beautiful to me. Instead, why not concentrate on beautiful centerpieces. I would go with some flowers AND candles. Light the candles anyway (even with the sun coming in). Then, when it gets dark, the room with have a nice glow. When it does get dark, you could also add in some other lights if you want at that time. Lighted trees in the corners?
